School-Based Tuition Assistance

Sliding-scale tuition, need-based aid, sibling and parishioner rates at the school itself, usually the layer that closes the gap between the voucher and the bill.

How big is the gap between the voucher and tuition in Indianapolis?

Smaller than most families expect at many schools, large at a few. Chalkbeat's July 2026 analysis of 21 voucher schools inside IPS boundaries found a median gap of $1,694 between non-member tuition and the $7,456 voucher for an IPS-area student.

Statewide, about three in four Choice students in 2025-26 attended at a tuition and fee level between $5,001 and $10,000, according to IDOE's annual report.

Which Indianapolis schools use sliding-scale tuition?

Some build aid into the price. The Oaks Academy sets tuition on a sliding scale tied to household size and local median income, and Providence Cristo Rey, whose 2026-27 tuition is $27,900, admits families up to 250% of poverty and estimates family contributions of $365 to $2,100, per Chalkbeat.

Ask every school three questions: are you on the Choice list, what do I owe after the voucher for my district, and which SGO do you partner with.
